Goal Zero recalled about 46,200 Yeti 3000X power stations: what to do
Is my Goal Zero Yeti 3000X power station included in the recall?
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says the circuit board in Yeti 3000X power stations can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards. About 46,200 units are involved. The remedy is a free firmware update installed through the Goal Zero app. Owners are told to stop using the unit until the update is installed.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced in August 2026 a recall of about 46,200 Goal Zero Yeti 3000X power stations over an overheating risk.
What happened
CPSC says the circuit board can overheat, posing a risk of serious injury from fire and burn hazards. Goal Zero received 4 reports of Yeti 3000X units overheating and smoking, and no injuries have been reported. The remedy is a free firmware update installed through the Goal Zero app. Owners are told to stop using the unit until the update is installed.
What it means for your home
A power station can run a fridge or charge phones during an outage, so an overheating unit matters. Check yours before you need it.
What to do this week
- Find the model on any power station you own.
- If it is a Yeti 3000X and the firmware update is not installed, stop using it until the update is installed through the Goal Zero app.
- Register your unit with the maker so you hear about updates.
- Never charge a power station unattended, or on a bed or couch.
For safe fridge backup, read the guide to running a fridge on a portable power station.
